There needs to be a royal commission into child abuse in organisations incl religions in the US like Australia is doing so that people can start to come forward and this can be hopefully uncovered.

Well firstly women do not chose suicide by gun shot wound to the head as a mode for suicide...they usually take tablets or something less gruesome - that is a fact
I cannot believe how imcompetent the police and the DPP are in not charging the suspects. It is really unacceptable.
Im not sure which one did it but one of them did. Perhaps both of them were involved...and that is absolutely horseshit that she shot herself in the head and the husband or anyone else in the house did not hear a gun shot....
on a religious not...the father (elder or exelder) isn't really 'strong' in the 'truth' as he keeps close association with a drug addict child that lives out of wedlock with another woman...hmmmm

by onacruse inso here i was, in my late 20s, and in the late 1970s, disfellowshipped.. .
to offer a bit of perspective: being dfd then was not like it had been before, or since.
for a period of several years (1973-1980, as i recall), the wts had "lightened up" on the amount of communication that was "allowed" between dfd people and other jws, especially when it was family.

yes, i was going to them, and i was foolish to think i could never get caught.

besty I agree with you... firstly you need to compare the stats by per capita....
we have seen that the USA has higher rates of people being killed by gun crime....
so logically what are the preventative measures?
2tired2care says having more gun control and better mental health (or something to that effect)...
the fact is no death is acceptable however GB rates are smaller than the USA...so that is a good target to be looking at to achieve as a nation in terms of decreasing rates.
GB's gun laws are stronger.....this is very likely a preventative measure that corelates with the lower killing rates.....
I dont agree with 2tired2cares viewpoint: on having a gun to protect oneself from thugs
other countries in the world dont have the same freedom in obtaining guns and the general population is generally safe and not needing to carry a gun to protect themselves....secondly if that was the case then every person should be bloody armed as they are walking down the street....Seem a bit over the top?
that is just an excuse to have a firearm. You can't just shoot a 'thug' because you would have to defend yourself in court for murder/manslaughter and part of your defense would be 'self defense' and to test that you would have to prove that it was 'reasonable force'.
on mental health 2 tired2care mentioned that why cant kids do a test to get a mental health score like when they get their scores from finishing schoool....well the problem with this is that the field of psychiatry doesn't work like that. It is not a matter of giving someone a 20 multiple choice question quiz to determine their mental health....In my nursing training I was taught that it takes a psychiatrist a good 6 months to fully assess a patient and give them a diagnosis. Sure people get diagnosed in shorter time periods than that based on their symptomatology i.e. psychosis
mental health is an issue..... and needs more funding in general....and more public education.....
however blaming the parents 2 tired2care for their kid going on a killing spree is not right..... Im sure that mother of the boy was a loving mother...if the child has a mental health issue it doesnt matter what the parent does in nurturing the child that wont fix/cure the child....they need treatment...

Yes Simon, I agree with the posters here.... Masturbation is a need for a man...and it should not be viewed as dirty or abnormal....I agree that the religion is affecting your wifes response due to the conditioning...however not all non-jws like porn either and i know of some women that would feel hurt and degraded by this...so it can't be all thrown back at religion...i know one of my ex bosses won't allow her son to have magazines that show women scantily clad and posing in them....and i guess when you think about it she has 2 other daughters in the same house and this could have a degrading effect on those young developing women...so its not a case of she's a jw or ex jw and is irrational .....but i dont think she should be getting all uptight that you were into it when you guys were in....who cares.....we all know that cult is damaging to people...
and I will come out and say it...you know my previous posts...i still stand by them bec we need to make sure we dont hurt other people but......i dont think there is anything wrong with you...you are not a bad person....really this is something that perhaps turns you on....good for you....you are NORMAL....this is not a perversion...well at least i dont think so...its looking at good looking nude women...thats not a perversion.....children would be though...
i think you should let your wife see that you are hurt that you hurt her...but as other posters have said you both need to get to counselling quickly....
